Black Hollow · Gameplay notes
Black Hollow: what carries into the next hunt?
Relic choices shape the hunt you are in. The Ichor Codex gives you a separate place to invest in permanent upgrades between runs.

Two kinds of progress
Black Hollow asks you to make choices during a hunt and between hunts. Relics shape the build you are playing right now. Permanent upgrades at the Ichor Codex give you another way to strengthen your doctor for the runs ahead.
Those are different decisions. A relic choice is about what you want to do with the powers in front of you. A visit to the Codex is a chance to think about what you want to improve over several attempts.
Bring a question back from each run
Before you head out again, think about the moment that caused the most trouble. Were you struggling to make space, learning an ability, or still getting comfortable with the staff and flasks? Use that experience to guide what you look for next.
Read the available upgrade descriptions and choose a direction you want to explore. You do not need to treat every run as a test of the same build. Trying a different combination can help you understand which parts of the toolkit suit you.
Your next attempt
What do you focus on between hunts: strengthening something that already works, or trying to cover a weakness? That is a useful thing to notice as your approach changes.
Black Hollow is available on Steam. The full game supports solo play and up to four-player online co-op; the free demo is single-player. Check the linked pages for the details of each version.
